95 F150 5.0 -- Lacking HP
I have a 95 F150, 5.0, Auto Trans, 2 wheel drive and I'm having some problems I cant seem to figure out. The truck doesnt seem to have any power on acceleration. I can floor the gas pedal and it goes nowhere. I can get it to 70mph but its takes forever. Feels like my passing gear isnt there but it does shift fine through every other gear. No knocks, tapping, grinding anywhere. I have replaced timing chain and gears because they were stretched, new plugs and wires, the timing is set correctly (done with spout removed), there are no leaks that I can find and all fluid levels are good. It has a MSD distributor and coil and I have went over firing order just to make sure that was right as well. Even before doing all this work the truck seemed to have a little more power one day and then none the next...its a hit or miss with this. Im so confused. Can anyone give me some idea whats going on please???
Oh yeah...check engine light came on before I replaced plugs but is now off. Never got a chance to check codes prior to that but no codes are showing up now.

From what you're stating, i can tell everything related to the spark and sensors is fine, the next thing you should check is the fuel supply, the filter, the pump, and take a look at the air filter. If you have a Cat. converter, it could be plugged also, see if the exhaust has a rotten egg smell (that would point to a cat. failure). Welcome to FTE btw!

The light went off so I didn't bother checking the reader. I will do that today tho and see if anything shows up. I put a new fuel and air filter in it so i dont think the filters are causing anything. I havent checked the CAT but I dont smell any rotten odor so I wasnt sure if that could be the problem either. This all pretty much happened overnight. It was running fine but I could tell timing was a little off so I timed it and it wouldnt really hold the timing. thats when i checked the timing chain and saw that it was stretched really bad so I replaced that and reset timing correctly...as well as doing plugs and wires. But I still dont have and pick up when I floor the gas. Should I disconnect the CAT at the donut and try running it to see if that makes a difference or at least to rule at CAT? Could it be the torque converter?
