Transmission guru's... please advise!

So the automatic transmission on my 2006 6.0l diesel has been acting up. its got 2 stuck solenoids, i drain the Transmission fluid (oil?) and removed the pan. what i found is what i think is clutch material residue on the pan... there doesn't seem to be any "big" pieces of clutch, just a lot of very fine shavings if you will.

i have attached some pics to help you guys understand what i am looking at. Im not sure if this is "normal" or if this is a sign that the clutches inside the transmission are gone.

Background on the transmission...

i bought the truck with 42k miles on it 3 years ago. i was told by the dealer that i bought it from that they had serviced the transmission when they took it in as a trade in. i have since put about 44k miles on it and i have not serviced it since i bought it (not good i know).

assuming that the dealer really did service it this build up would have happened in the last 44k miles since i bought it. if they didnt service it then this is 86k miles worth of build up.

I guess not what i need advice on is whether i go ahead and try to flush the transmission and clean it all out ( lines, cooler, solenoids, pan etc.) or if its beyond repair and just needs to be overhauled.

Thanks for any input.

Dont waste your time on changing the fluid, there is something inside that is failing and making all that metal, it needs to come out and get rebuilt. You might even have to replace the cooler too. Sorry but that's a lot of debris.

JK080... 10-4

That's what I've gathered from other post on this forum. I was hoping for some positive feed back on here but its the truth... She'll be siting for a while... Time for a new transmission... And clean everything else.
