Engine is ready for the 79 Bronco

I bought this 79 Bronco a couple of months ago for $200.00 with a 400 that had poor oil pressure. I had another 400 rebuilt and I have it all assembled now ready for the transplant. Excited to see how it performs. Heads have been gone through, bored .030 sealed power pistons, crank and rods turned .010, eldelbrock cam & lifters, edelbrock double roller timing, edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock 650 cfm carb. Anyone have around the same setup? What kind of HP and Torque can I expect? Thanks

Nice! Same paint scheme as the 300 in my 93. I don't have a lot of info on the setup but it looks sharp and assuming it was done right should pack you into the seat nicely on launch.

man she looks clean. i don't have any details about your setup but by the sounds of what you've got you should be happy. my '79 400 with rv cam, edelbrock carb and intake w/ headers makes good power over stock so i bet you'll be good.

Looks good, and I am sure it will power your Bronco quite nicely. I would suggest contacting Edelbrock about a hp/torque estimate, they know their products better than anyone.

I would second that but I already picked on up for less then that.
Good luck with the swap. If you really want to know HP and torque numbers then throw that thing on a dyno after you break it in and let us know what you get.

did you bump the compression ratio up at all? that motor responds well to that work along with some porting of the heads. you might be a little happier with a weiand intake but that edelbrock will work for some time.

I would recommend running a delo 15w40 or rotella motor oil for the first 3000 miles of break in to really get the rings seated well not to mention the oil is a hi detergent so it will keep things clean on the inside.

Wow that is a sweet looking engine! Let's see if you can do a engine swap as fast as me. I took my truck into the shop and I had it pulled out and driving within a week. I went from a 351 to a 400. Those 400s are a nice engine

thanks for the replies guys. I got the engine in and runs good. Took two days to pull the old and put in the new. I have an issue with oil pressure. It is around 75 psi when warm and blew one of my valve cover gaskets out on a corner. Anyone have this problem? Anything I should be concerned about?

I'd be thrilled with half that but I'm not sure its a problem unless you have trouble keeping that kind of pressure contained.

The oil pressure will have no affect on blowing out a valve cover gasket. I would be a little concerned about 80PSI myself though. What did you use for a pump, high pressure or high volume?
