My 1949 F6 – V8 239 Model 9R8TH and I think the wheelbase is 158” has 3 drive shafts, and I would like to know if this is how it was originally made or if at some point in time it was done for some reason by a previous owner. The person I bought the truck from told me that the truck was used as a tanker for a fire department; also the chassis was reinforced with a steel plate.

 

Thats the way it has to be. I cant give the exact measurements in inches
but there is a rule of thumb as distance from the transmission to the
axle pinion. If you get the chance look under a school bus and you will
get the idea as how many they have.

 

3 Piece is typical for a truck that long .
