7.3L Oil Change

May seem silly but I've swapped out all my suspension and have yet to change my oil. I had the oil changed when I bought the truck and would like to start doing myself.

Are there any special tips, tricks or procedures I need to know about on changing the 7.3L oil?

Here is a link that will give directions for the oil change and a few other things that you may be interested in doing.

Not really, it's pretty straight-forward.

Some of us will poke a hole in the bottom of the filter to let it drain to make it less messy when removing it.

Because the filter is so large and holds so much oil, most of us will pre-fill the filter before spinning it on.

I'd suggest you get a Fumoto valve with a nipple Riffraff Diesel: Fumoto Quick Drain Valve W/ Nipple so you can pop a hose on the end and drain it right into your recycle container.

You know how much oil these beasts take, right?

Yup, drain, change filter, refill. I as well fill the filter with oil before installing.

Fumoto

Stew H - Fumoto Quick Drain on the way. That is one awesome product - makes me glad I ask a lot of questions.

Excellent decision.

Even before I bought my Ex, I had Fumoto valves on my vehicles.

Stewart
I bought one many many months ago and have, until just now, not racked up enough miles to change the oil so I can put it on there.

I have one on my Chrysler Town & County and have had one on most every vehicle that I've owned. So much nicer when oil-change time comes around!
