Ford parts

Anyone have any info on any dealerships that parts are cheaper? Or aftermarket that fits like stock? Time to start cleaning up the truck and get some little odd and ends to get it back right. Example like door panels, rear bumper steps, rear tailgate.

Thanks for any info.

I got my oem glow plugs and UVCH from RockAuto Parts Catalog

Someone on the boards suggested them, they have good prices. I was a happy customer.

Plus, Tousley is a supporting vendor here at FTE.

Let's also remember Clay at Riffraff Diesel has some OEM parts too, and he's DEFINITELY the first stop you wanna make for aftermarket parts. Riffraff Diesel Performance Parts | Ford 7.3 diesel | 7.3 powerstroke | Ford Powerstroke | 7.3L Powerstroke Parts

Your best bet for body parts is a salvage yard.

As for a tailgate, 1999 thru 2010 will fit.

There are many body parts, including head lghts and tail lights, etc..., from 1999-2007 that fit or fit with minimal modification so don't limit yourself to your trucks model year.

As for aftermarket some are good, some bad. Ask here before you buy.

Ask about other model year parts as well.

Word of caution. Never buy aftermarket CPS or Glow Plugs. Motorcraft or International only on these two.

Tailgate. I saw a new tailgate (with the "SUPERDUTY" across the bottom) on a 2002 SD. The tailgate fit, but the tail lights didn't match the contours, it take spring hardware to install it, and the top lip with the ladder is cool - but good luck ever buying a cover for the bed (like a canopy).

The tailghts match the contour of the bed, not the tailgate. That should not be an issue. Unless the tail lights you saw were some bad aftermarket ones.

I have a 2008 non-step tailgate and a Snug Top hard tonneau meant for a 2008 with step tailgate. Except for a slight overhang it seals just fine. It seals to the top straight portion on the tailgate. It would be easy to find a canopy to fit since the boxes are identical and you can by a canopy for a truck with or without a step tailgate.

2008 tailgate and 2008 tail lights.

Will a cap fit normal on the beds if you change the tailgate? I have been thinking about changing mine out but I might also want to get a shell too.

...2008 tailgate and 2008 tail lights.
You mention you put the same year tail lights as the tailgate on your truck. This is what I was thinking - old tail lights with new tailgate looks wierd. Did I get confused?

If you order the shell properly no problem. If you install a non-step 2008 tailgate make sure they no this when buying a shell. They would then order a shell for a 2008 with non-step tailgate. If it is a tailgate with step (the tailgate is thicker in the middle and bows out more than a non-step tailgate) make sure they know that. If they are experienced and you tell them what tailgate you installed they should know what to order.

I guess I got confused.

I had actually installed the 2008 tail lights about a year before installing the newer tailgate. LINK

If you want factory parts try these guys. I use them all the time. I live in TX and the prices with shipping are still lower than local prices. Their customer service is top notch too.

They're almost as cheap as Tousley Ford Parts.
