Converting donor 351w efi to carb for my 87

I have a 1987 E350 with a oem holley carbed 351W and a C6 trans. It runs well but has blowby and very low oil pressure! I found a rebuilt 351W out of a 92 E250 that has fuel injection. Can I swap my original carb manifold to this block? Can I swap the timing chain cover for the mechanical fuel pump or should I run an inline LP electric fuel pump? Is there anything else I should consider before plopping my money down?

It's the same block so yeah all the parts will transfer, the only significant differences between your '86 and the '92 are the heads(higher compression on the '92) and the cam which is most likely an EFI specific grind but these also work quite well with a carb. You probably won't find an fuel pump essentric behind the EFI timing cover either but that's a simple bolt-on.

That's good to hear! Will my distributor be a straight swap as well? I only put about 2000 miles on the van a year... So longevity and reliability are important (especially after sitting for a week or two). Would I be better off adding the lobe to the cam and going mechanical fuel pump or going electric?

There's no reason the distributor won't plug in either. Fuel pump choice is yours but FWIW I have't had any luck with aftermarket electric fuel pumps.. they don't seem to last like the OEMs

Thanks for your help! Now I only need to convince my wife that fixing the van is a good idea... I can get a reman motor with only 5000 miles for $500. The convincing will probably prove to be more difficult than the swap!
