I have a 76 crew cab with a 390 and a 4 speed. I am converting to a 7.3 powerstroke and automatic transmision. I have tentatively sold the 390 to a guy that is planning on using a c6 automatic transmission.

I need to know if the 390 is compatable (will assemble to) a c6 transmision.

Yes a 390 will connect to a C6, there are millions of them out there. They came from the factory that way.
The C6 will need to be one for an FE (360-390) engine though. C6's have an integral bellhousing and the FE bolt patern is unique to FE's.
This is an FE/C6 bellhousing, the bolt patern is circular.

 

This is great information. Unfortunately my prospective client currently has a c6 mated to a 351m and it looks like my 390 will not mate to his c6.
