Yup. Its a pretty hefty add-on though. You can get a low-grade one for like $30... Or if ya have the fab skills, it wouldnt be too difficult to make one. Iv always wanted one but didnt know if it was worth the cost and hassle

It doesnt have to be anything fancy with as little air as our motors flow stock.

My 93 F150 4x4 with 5.8L/auto just had a small pipe connecting the two banks, better than nothing according to the exhaust shop.

My Cobra and other built/blown mustang had a true H-pipe though.

You know you are getting old when you recommend putting a stock system back in. If you want longevity, I'm sure you can find a stainless stock type system. My truck isn't a performer though I am fighting the urge to bolt up a turbo to it. I had a truck that had the drone when rolling down the highway and I'm totally over that at this point. Like a couple others have said, unless you are doing work to the heads etc., putting a "performance" exhaust on there isn't going to do much more than drain your wallet.

That depends, have you priced a factory replacement system. On my 97 w/ factory twin pipes out of the muffler the 2 tailpipes are $65 each and the muffler was another $150.
I paid my exhaust guy $255 for the 3" system and I had him fix my exhaust manifold donut gaskets as well. I had the 3" flowmaster already.

Our trucks dont flow? Then why do they get 10 mpg lol. They gotta be suckin in tons of air to equal the fuel input lol.

Stainless is a good idea if your planned on keeping the truck for awhile. They will outlast the truck almost, but your gonna pay for it too. About twice what a regular exhaust cost.

If I were you, (not tryin to tell ya what to do... just givin advice) Id just do a good ol single pipe at about 2 1/2 inches if moneys tight, or 3" if ya got some extra cash, with a decent muffler such as a Thrush Welded or somethin similar and run it out the back and 90* it at the back tire so it looks stock (Iv seen single pipes stickin straight out the back... looks dorky IMO). Cheap and efficent!

Yeah you could cut your old system off, get you a 3" muffler of your choice and order mangaflow item 15003 ($54 from amazon) for a tailpipe and be done.
That's what I was going to do but I found the exhaust leaks and got them all fixed too.

I had a shop in town put a new Flowmaster Series 40 muffler on it and had them do a side exit in front of the passengers rear wheel with a SS tip. Have to say it sounds and looks pretty good and isn't loud at all. I'm almost wishing I would have had him do 2 like this instead of just the 1 but 2 was too much money. I did keep the Cat too as the shops in town won't remove them due to EPA regs.

You could run just the cat, and no muffler.
That works as well and would have given you a little more sound.

I was running just the cat and dual rusted pipes, it was too loud which is why, along with the rust, I had it changed over.

Just an FYI, that Magnaflow 3" tail pipe is a smoking deal @ $53. It is priced the same on Summit with free shipping. Flowmaster makes a 3" tailpipe kit but it is only aluminized and is $85.95.
