I have a 96` with a 460. Most of my driving is highway, and I`ve never seen better that 9 mpg with it. Towing it gets about 5. Not the first thing up the hill, but will beat a half ton. I wouldn`t recommend one unless you have bottomless pockets.

I have a 95 7.5 auto , it tows good but is like pouring gas on the ground 10 to 10.5 mpg at best . But you have to expect that with these trucks .

Yes a lot more. I had two of them, the one I had in my 1981 F250 SC had a motor I built for pulling my trailer and with all the things I did to it it would pull down a house but couldn't pass up a gas station. My second one was a EFI in my 1991 F250 SC, drank fuel like crazy with less power until I installed a Banks Power Pack then it had more power and was better on fuel but still no where close to my V10.

My 93 460 4x4 5spd will average around 10. Highway it does 12-14 as long as you keep it under 2k , or 62 mph. City driving 7 or 8. That's also driving pretty easy on the go pedal.

Exact same experience here with a 96 F350, 460, 4x4, 5 spd. 7-8 with city or aggressive driving, and around 12+ on nice highway driving.

That is sounding pretty brutal on the mpg! The truck is sweet, but don't think I can handle 7 mpg!

I've had several of these trucks, all 4wd with every engine available except the 5.0 . None of them got very good mileage driving around town. My old 88 with the 300 might see 10 in town. With a 3/4 or 1 ton 4wd truck don't expect much for mileage in city traffic.
