What do you guys think she's worth?
Well boys, the time has come to get rid of the old girl. She has been good truck to me, but I don’t need two of them, and Denver is no place for a 2WD Idi, so I thought I’d throw up a post to get some feedback on what you all think she is worth.
Here is a brief history, and a list of things I’ve done to her.
I bought her in Aug of 2010 with a seized motor, and had never turned wrench on a diesel before, and have never been much of a gearhead to begin with. I was limited on cash, and needed a tow rig for an upcoming job in Oregon.
She had 235K on her when I got her, and the PO said he had put 10K on the E40D since a rebuild, but couldn’t provide receipts. He also told me that he had the Banks Sidewinder professionally installed about 30k ago, but again no receipts, and a brand new starter, which I later found out he had burned out trying to turn over the seized motor! It was in really good shape aside from the motor, so I gave him 1600 for it and towed it home.
I found a 7.3 for 500 bucks, and the guy seemed to know the IDI pretty well. He said it came out of a 91 F250 with 190k miles on it. That it had always been treated with SCA’s and maintained, so I brought it home, and without knowing an IDI from an IUD, I took on the challenge of a motor swap.
He had yanked the pump by pulling the pump gear cover, so I had to figure that one out. After some head scratching and beer drinking and an introduction to this forum, I finally installed the pump, gear and housing, and had the motor ready for install.
Things went really well, and when it came time to fire her up she actually fired in about three tries, even though I knew nothing about priming the filter, or glow plugs, or really anything about starting an IDI at all.
That’s when things got out of control!
I thought she was running great until I looked under her and saw a RIVER of fuel pouring out the bell housing cover. Turns out it had been sitting for a while, and all of the O-rings on the return lines had dried and cracked. It became one thing after another trying to get her roadworthy, in the interest of time I won’t get into the details, but here is a list of the things I have done to her to date and an approximate mileage on each. I have tried to buy new, not rebuilt parts for her whenever possible, so if I list a part as new it is that, and others I will list as reman, rebuilt or used.
New return line kit 235k
New starter 235k
New water pump 235k
New Motorcraft T-stat 235k
Used radiator 235k
New tach sensor 240k
New fan clutch 245k
4 new 235/85/16 Equalizer tires 253k
Reman. IP (DCP) 253k
Reman. Injectors (Pensacola) 253k
New Beru glow plugs 253k
New steering column bearings 256k
New steering column spring kit 256k
New ignition key cylinder 256k
So the description of the truck is:
1993 F250 XLT 2WD E40D auto trans. with Banks Sidewinder 3” exhaust and TCM
256k Miles on truck
210k miles on motor.
Interior in good shape with usual wear.
Exterior in good shape with no major body damage, and absolutely no rust.
Paint is faded and peeling on hood and roof of cab
Everything works except the alt gauge. Including A/C, lights, gauges,
ALPINE am/fm stereo
Electric brake controller
Reese 16k lb sliding fifth wheel hitch
Banks EGT and Boost gauges.
This truck is in excellent overall condition and starts, runs and rides perfectly.
Needs nothing, I just took her on a 350 trip across the CA and AZ deserts in 115 degree heat with the A/C pumping with no problems at all.
Averages 16 to 17 MPG highway at 70 MPH
I would not hesitate to drive her cross country tomorrow.
So I have an Idea of what I want to get for her, I am selling her here in CA because the market is better for two wheel drive trucks here. What do you think she is worth, and do you think there is anything I should do to make her more sellable?
Thanks for the Input,
Mac.
P.S. Granted she is no "Ugly truck for Sexy people", but shes a good truck none the less! LOL

i bet you'd like to get 2500 out of her Mac?
the resale killers:
19 yrs old.2wd.250k miles.
you may need to end up taking a 1500 -2k offer realistically.because shes so clean,id say shes got to be good for 2k all easy.
personally,i think she ends up selling for 1800-2k even as n/a because she's clean.id pull the banks instead of giving it away.that's good for a solid 1k all easy in itself.

Ford your right, I probably would do better pulling the turbo, and selling it separate, but then I'd need to find all the parts to convert it back to N/A, and I'm not going to go through all that. If I were to pull it, you already know it would go on my 94! Right now, I am not in any hurry to sell it, so I wouldn't take any less that $2500. If I still have it in three weeks or so, it might become a fire sale! I don't really need the money, I just have no use for it any longer. The money will probably go towards paint for the 94. I think I will post it on CL for 3k. OBO right now, I know I won't get that, but we all know I'll get fifty offers for $1200 maybe someone will offer the right price! I'll update with new info.
Thanks,
Mac.

Well it looks like I'm going to hold off selling her now, I need to do a head gasket in the 94. I think I will put the new aluminum radiator in her too. This one doesn't leak, but she did run a little hot going over Chiriaco Summit with the A/C blasting in 115* heat. First I need to pull the motor in my 94, do a head gasket job, and clean up some things. She'll be back up for sale after that.
Thanks for the input,
