37s with open diffs is possible with a light foot, but throw lockers into the mix and there is no chance of those shafts surviving the first trail ride. Btw ttb Dana 44s have the exact same weak link as a solid axle Dana 44, the u joint size

I;m wanting a Detroit locker in the rear, and a Detroit true-trac lsd in the front. It uses worm gears instead of clutches.

I could do a Dana 60 wap, but then I'd have to go leaf spring suspension. The whole reason I stayed away from the Dana 60. I wanted to keep the coils, and I knew I could get F250 Dana 44 HD kuckles and convert to 8 lug.

Why couldnt you put the coil buckets on the dana 60 and go that route?

And you could go to a D60, but why do 2 SAS on one truck? I think that with a sterling rear the truck will be plenty tough enough to handle 39.5" unless you're going to tough truck it. Can't wait to see it all daid and done SCRebel.

I guess its possible to make a Dana 60 coil over, I'm not sure if the Dana 44 radius arms will work on the Dana 60.

If the Dana 44 can handle it, I'll keep it. Even if I have to go with a 10.25 rear, and Dana 44HD conversion.

The joys of working with metal is that damn near anything is possible. Just add metal where needed, or cut off where it isnt.

Sometimes a combo of both with alot of cussing can make neat things happen.

Well finding a Dana 60 is going to be the hard part. Lol.

I plan to keep the Dana 44 unless it just can't do it. I don't ****** and pull. If CV alxes can handle 38's, I'd hope a Dana 44 solid axle can handle 38's or even 39's.

Dana 60s arent that hard to find. If it were me I would find a 1 ton donor truck and use the axles out of that.

Dana 44 shafts will not stand up to 39s. If you don't believe me go over to pirate4x4 and ask them, I'm sure they will be much more helpful.

Go run em and you might get lucky and last a year or two with no issues. Just make sure you can afford the repairs/upgrades in case it happens!

People claim the Dana 50 TTB in my truck is terrible, but i've thrashed the hell out of it with no issues so far.

I have been told that the 39.5" tires don't weight that much, that 40's are way more. taller and heavier.

I run 39.5/15/16.5s super swamper tsls and they are heavier than my buddys 40/18 gumbo mud something or anothers. They aren't light tires and I run a built dana 60 and built sterling 10.25

The man I have been talking to in person had 39.5's on a 2001 6.0 gas Chevy 2500. Not 2500HD and it had CV axles. He ran those tires and 4.88 gearing.

Look, you've gotten plenty of advice thus far and only try to argue.

Go run them and see if it works or not. Thats the only way to know for sure.
