1990 Dual Tank Question

The fuel gauge reads past full when the key is on, correctly when the key is off. I traced (checked for open circuits and ohms) the wires down checking for shorts, none. Cleaned the socket that attaches to the fuel pump/sender, which was pretty corroded. That got it to work properly. I'm guessing they had worked on this before, gobs of tape holding it down or something. The clip is broken off that holds the connector firmly and the thing is pretty bad. (This is on a 1990 F350 Dump bed).

Bottom line question. Where can I buy one at or find the part number? Is the back tank and the front tank connector/socket the same, I know the pumps are different. Thanks in advance.

You talking about the clip that connects to the pump/level assembly?

Thats it. The one that mounts on the connector on top of the tank

I don't think there is any other way to get them aside from the junk yards, and they like to make the wallet scream, even on pigtails in some cases.

I'll have one I can give you in the next few weeks, it's either that or they get scrapped with the truck, I can even leave a good 2' of line for you.

Free by the way, I can't see charging for them.

It's wires and a plastic clip, worth no value to me man, I will let you know when I have the whole thing ready to go, and you can PM me your address so I can send it all out to you, I'll include the front one in case your clips match.

I'm only buying the truck for the brand new ZF5 and BW1356 sitting under it, and a few other stupid things I need.

$600 for the whole truck, and I'll be trading the motor for a 350lb headache rack I've wanted from a friend for about a year now.

but it will also be able to help me get a few things fixed in my truck.

I know how it is man, you have these strange parts that go bad, and it's not your average 'parts store' item, I've seen people pay $100 for the stupid little harness piece I pulled from my truck today for the automatic transmissions.....it's BS, I either build my own, or get them while I can, like I'll be able to in 2-3 weeks.

We bought this one to haul gravel when we needed it, pull calf trailers, and hay floats. I knew it needed some work, thats why we got it. Only one around in our budget. I get a few things that were neglected fixed and I think it will be a good old truck.

I ended up getting my F150 for $500 believe it or not, no story or nothin', saw the ad and bought it, needed a new battery and a tuneup....only 36k on it, now it has almost 200k and still runs awesome, I'll be swapping the body onto an F350 frame with a Cummins 12V twin turbo and 6-spd manual 4x4, but thats a few years out, but it's a goal, I love my Ford, and it's apparent that it loves me too.

Treat these old trucks right, and they will challenge the loyalty of a dog.

You gotta good deal on that, great plans too.

We got this (wife named it BUD Bigger Uglier Dump) because we have a long driveway and the guy who use to bring gravels went out of business. I gave the guy 3500 for her but the bed is worth that. Electric over Hydrochloric. I've got a 89 F250 I got for 550, (Big Ugly) done minor things here and the and then had a steel bed attached. I bought the things to make it a dump but couldn't get the man to do it. We bought it because my 1990 F150 (Blackie) overheated pulling a float with hay on it. She first said I had to get rid of Big Ugly but I've eased my way into keeping her. My dad bought Blackie and the kids grew up riding in her, so nobody wanted it sold. These days I drive a 2001 Ranger Edge.

I bought my truck back in 2005, it's been a great truck since, I spoke of selling it, and my wife AND 2 year old son made it known that they weren't gonna go with it.

I've had this truck all around the country, it's even been to Alaska and Hawaii (Sister had to borrow it to help a friend of hers move, and I guess it was cheaper to ship there, instead of renting a truck?) and I used to have a picture of it on Oahu, and another with a volcano in the background.

I used it for pilot truck for a few years, which is why I have a load of electronics (Scanner, CB, 2M Radio, Bird Dog (Radar Detector) and Sirius Sat Radio) on a 'shelf-it' unit and a 2400W Inverter still in it, I'm actually considering returning to the pilot game when she's all done, idk what I would do without "BAB" (Big Angry B***h), she's never let me down....never, even after swallowing 3rd, 4th and Reverse, she got me home before finally calling it quits, and still gathered the goff to move enough to help me get started in fixing her, and she's been working with me just fine with all of the work too, she knows she won't be left to rot in a yard.

This is how she looked, Back when I bought her.

She's a good looking ride. I love my trucks, Big Ugly especially, though I';ve had Blackie since he was two. He more or less gets started a few times a year and an oil change. Big Ugly gets moved around a little and pulls a 20 ft float like it's nothing. I had to do a lot of work on her but it was all minor stuff. Wife won't ride in it or BUD, lol.
