Got a cool XLT 94 2WD LB 302...now what?

Been looking for a month on Craigslist but actually found mine sitting
in the evening shade of a country lawn. Owner had just placed a FOR SALE sign
in the window Saturday.

On Sunday it was mine.

Asked the Owner what he did to get it to 196K and he said...."not much."

So I'm making my to do list for her. Any Suggestions?

I would check the front suspension components, especially the ball joints. Most people tend to ignore the front end components

Thanks for the compliment! Looked a DIY tinting at Advance yesterday. Need to find a good kit I suppose. Virginia can go 50% on the side and 35% tint on the rear.

It currently has dual exhaust...so that's not stock?

Climbed under her today as I lost a socket replacing the squealing idler pulley.
Didn't find the socket but found a few rusty areas around the bumper mounts.
Tie-rods and ball joints looked okay. Didn't see any metal on metal.

Now I need to find a good rust converter. I read about VHT Rust Converter that sprays on clear and turns rust black. Some thing better out there?

Overall, not much rust at all just wtan to stop it before it gets along any further.

if you are going to spend the time removing them, just get new ones. you'll never get the old ones back to new condition.

I used a rust converter from tractor supply plastikote, I think thats the name of it, you shake it up and brush it on. Its white then turns a brown then a black. I then used there armor rust spray paint and primer. The rust converter is not cheap, like 20 bucks a bottle, but one bottle did do one side of my frame

Damn, that is a fine lookin truck right there! She's awful nice lookin in the evenin sun... wish mine looked like that when I bought her. Mine's a SuperCab, white, but first thing I saw when I pulled up was a mangled driver side fender. I took it anyway since everything else appeared good and I was tired of looking for a (hopefully 96) SuperCab 4x4 351. Looked good til I got it home and found a cracked front subframe a few days later. Some grinding to remove the hack repair job, and some welding of my own fixed that.

As for yours, no the dual exhaust ain't stock.
What I would do if it were mine is window tint, headlights, get rid of that silly plastic thing under the front bumper, and the PM items.

Also a little lift, or even just a leveling kit.

Nice find!

I say just do the tint for now since it is hotter that all getout, replace just the headlights, or do like your dad suggested for now.

Then just drive the truck and enjoy it.

Then after you do that drive it some more.

So What part of Va. are you in? I am over here on the Coast in Norfolk, a.k.a. 7th realm of hell. LOL

It is a very clean looking truck

The leveling kit sounds like a possibility, although I don't know what kind. Also,
I going to do the tinting but what are "MTs on the back"?

Thanks for the compliment here's another shot. I would take that black plastic piece underneath the bumper off definately. I bought one of those head light restoration kits last week for my '94 and after doing the procedure twice it was slightly less hazy but nothing like new ones.
