Will not turn over?!
I have a 2000 expedition Eddie bouer edition. Started having problems with it not wanting to start at certain times, then an hour later starting. It did that for a couple weeks, during that time I noticed that if I pushed the shifter hard into park it would eventually turn over. But now that dosnt work, I've replaced the nuetral safety switch, batteries good, cables good, starters good, just will not turn over, turn the key and nothing. If anyone has any ideas I would much appreciate it, trucks been down 2 months now and I have a large family

This still sounds like a neutral safety switch issue to me. It could be an adjustment with the cable or something.
Will it start if you put it in neutral or in gear? Be really carefull trying to test it while in gear.
Another idea would be a problem with battery cables. A bad ground possibly.
How do you know the starter is OK? I agree a bad starter usually makes a "thunk" sound when you turn the key. Just curious on this one.
I would first try testing it for starting in various gears or even trying to have the gear selector between gears if that makes sense. If nothing, I would test the "trigger" wire to see if it is getting power at the starter when you turn the key to start.

Have you replaced the solenoid on the fire wall. Thats another item that can fail and not send power to the trigger wire on the solenoid for the starter. Try jumping across the positive terminal on the right hand side to the terminal on the left.
Yeah, if he jammed it into park and it started then it seems likely to me its the neutral safety switch needing adjustment. Its not that difficult. Once you pop apart the connector at the trans.. Can you loosen the bolts and adjust the neutral safety switch? Seems it was fixed in place from what I remember.
