1959 f100

started working on the brakes of my 1959 f100 and wanted to know if the master cylinder that autozone carries for 1960 modle would work.

Be careful as much of their brake stuff is of the import variety...I got a store brand wheel cylinder for a 66...looked fine...till I tried putting it on the backing plate...wouldnt fit...if you can, get a Bendix unit...its more money...but at least its not a foreign made piece...just be sure to bench bleed it before you install it on the truck...
there are also outfits that rebuild old brake cylinders...look in Hemmings...

So when did Napa start carrying all the same chinese parts as the zone? You can't get quality parts any more....

Dude, my NAPA guy told me ten years ago, make sure you save your recpts. since he had to order the cheap stuff to stay competitive.

no im just joking ive had a Duralast master cylinder on my clutch for about 2 years now and i havent had any problems. plus if your buying a rebuilt part such as a master cylinder or distributor if you ask autozone what company rebuilt it and you ask napa were they get theres rebuilt most of the time there from the same place on these old trucks. last year i needed a distributor and i checked with napa, autozone, orileys and LMC they all got that distributor from the same place but autozone was alot cheaper and plus you dont have to keep a reciet with autozone.

Yep, most parts chains are just repackagers. I don't think Napa, Carquest, Autozone or any of the others manufacture anything.
