Auxillary Switch(s) Install Info

Anyone install any aftermarket auxillary switches? I'm looking to add a set of aux reverse lights and led bed lights and need switches mounted in the cab. They would be wired where I could turn them on when needed. I'm finding the factory reverse lights not very bright and hard to see whne backing up at night. I'm thinking about Starkey reverse lights and Truxedo Bed Lights.

I'm looking for pic's of the location of the switches. I'm thinking on the left side by drilling a couple of holes in the panel above the brake release. Any suggestions?

The truck is a 2012 XLT with center console.

this is the common mods sticky thread at the top of this forum.

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-sticky-2.html

If you look on the second page they are close to the location you are thinking about, but a little closer to the steering wheel.

Hope this helps,

Q.

That's perfect. I think it's a better location too.

Think ahead before you do it. If you think you'll want 3 switches at some point in the future instead of 2, plan for it now. I'm wishing I had a third one there now, but it's a little too late.

I have 3 switches on order and I'll see how hard it will be to mount them. I like the idea of having a spare one and that's what I'll do. Thanks for the tip.

Think I'll remove the cover below the cluster and instal toggle switches into them then reinstall cover. Can see them from the cluster light.
