1979- 302- very low compression- valve job?

Hello

I own a 1979 econoline, beautiful van, no rust....

I bought it fours years ago, engine needed rebuild.

I did a lot of the prep work myself, took engine out, stripped it down, but then took the block, heads, etc... To a shop in town to do the rebuild.

They rebored the cylinders a little wider, cleaned and checked block, heads, engine ran great for about three years.

For the last year the engine could never get above 80kmh, it seems the hiccup and kickback, like there's just no power remaining for more acceleration.
I can't even get up a steep hill in town.

I took it to a garage, and after a compression test they told me there is very low pressure in one of the cylinders, and they recommended a valve job to fix the problem. Does that make sense? How much should I expect to pay for this job?

I assume that involves taking the heads off, and replacing the gaskets once the job is done?

I'm in Canada, but if you US guys know what thy kind of a job should cost in America it should give me a pretty idea up here.

Thanks!
