Spider gears gone out as thread stated I'm about to go to U-Pick It. I just want to know what range of years of F 150 V-8's have 31 spline spider gears 8.8 rear end? Mine is a 1988 4X4. And doesn't F 150 Econoline vans, LTD's, Crown Vic's, have appropriate spider gears? Any info would be very helpful.

 

The way I grew up understanding differentials, the SIDE gears are splined for the axles, while the SPIDER gears, pinned to the differential carrier, are not.

But, other than semantics, sorry, I can't help with interchangeability. It will depend on the make & model of axle.

I have compared part / serial # of the needed rebuild kit from JC Whitney, it shows the same for all 88-96's I searched of the F-150 trucks and F-150 Econoline Vans. So disreguard the questions. But thanks.
