leaking mountaineeer??

leaking mountaineeer??

My mom just got a 2007 mercury mountaineer. Its an overall great vehicle. better than her corolla she had. But theres one problem. when it rains really hard, it leaks in the overhead light above the rearview mirror. We think it has something to do with the sunroof. and It leaks around the back glass. Not sure what is causing that. Have any of y'all had this problem before?

I had a similar problem with a former 2000 Mountaineer that I bought used. The issue was due to disconnected sunroof drains above the head liner. I'm guessing that a previous owner tried to clean out the drains by blowing compressed air from the bottom (although I'm not sure where the drains exit) and, since they were plugged or restricted, they succeeded in blowing the tube off the gutter above the headliner.

The place I bought the used Mountaineer fixed it for me without hassle and pretty quickly so I'm guessing they did not need to remove the entire headliner to reconnect the drain hoses.

So your mountaineer was like the little ranger based explorer? I'll check it out when i get the chance. I looked at it one time and couldnt find anything. Thanks buddy.

I'm not sure what you mean by that. It had the 5.0L V8 which wasn't available in the Ranger, and it didn't have a bed like the Sport Trac. But it wasn't until 2002 that the non-Sport Explorers and Mountaineers deviated from sharing the general suspension with the Ranger. From a sunroof perspective I'm not sure how much would have been shared with the Ranger (or the 2007 Mountaineer from that perspective).

The explorer (Ford) and mountaineer (Mercury) are the same vehicle with a different badge... Philip

true. the explorer i was talking about is like your's, aquanaut20. my Mom's is the new body style. but thanks for giving a general idea
