Truck hesitation, EGR?

Hey guys, I just thought I'd ask this question here and see if any of you have experienced this before I take my truck into the shop. Well a few months ago when I'd be accelerating at around 30-33 mph and 40mph my truck would have a slight hesitation, like the TCC was slipping while engaging. Well I didn't do anything until the check engine light would come on every once in a while for a few seconds after it hesitated, and when I checked for codes I got a 332 (I think thats what it was) for an EGR not opening. So what I did to check it was disconnect the EGR, and it set the check engine light like it was supposed to and starting pinging a bit. I figured it was opening like it was supposed to so I plugged it back in and just left it and was figuring on dealing with it later. Well just these past two days it's gotten a lot worse and the check engine light will come on a lot more and when I went up a steep hill in third at 2000 the truck was doggy then it bogged way down and all of a sudden it just picked up and took off and the check engine light came on, all without me moving the pedal. Further info is my truck is a '95 with a 5.8l and E4OD tranny. Thanks in advance for the help!

What are the codes now that the CEL is coming on more? Still the same or did you assume nothing else is happening?

I just checked the codes today and it's still a 332- EGR not opening.

My 332 code on my 92 was a cpmbination of the EGR valve solenoid and the EGR valve position sensor, both were bad. I replaced them both with salvage yard parts for a total of $20 at pick n pull and have not thrown a code since

And to check EGR valve operation I pulled it off and used a hand vacuum pupm to put vacuum to it and watch it open, so I knew my EGR valve was good

I'm having a similar problem, but I haven't had the CEL come on. My slugishness happens when the engine is hot. I can't tell that the trans is slipping.

X2 Excellent advice. I have used the same methodology several times.
