Shall we wait for Bob to return and confirm a correct answer, or should I just go on with an incredibly-easy one, and re-visit Bob's if necessary?

I answered my own question.... Go for it, guys, it's easy-peasy!

Yep, it was a stretch and way to obvious so I had something else in mind.

This country sound came from someone who had a tremendous influence on him, even though he really never knew him.

His signature look came as a result of hiding something.

We'll, this one too, was not the song I was thinking of.

This famous rock and roll oldie has been recorded by many artists, including one that died shortly thereafter, and another version who the songwriter approved the first changes ever, memorializing a schoolhouse shooting, killing both children and teacher.

I personally have several things in common with this original writer and singer I'll reveal once correct. Pop too!

Okay to help bump...

So this entertainer, as a stout republican has created such a controversial position as to have a major media source, eliminate a very popular tune off of their broadcasts.

Bump#2...

This songwriter and singer was criticized many times by his grass root followers after he picked up and performed with an electric guitar.

He later made several gospel albums after becoming a born again Christian.

Other than being born in up-state Minnesota, I can't imagine what I have in common with Robert Zimmerman.

Bob?

Yep, Bob Dylan born in Minnesota is what I had in mind with Pop.

Both Bob's first and middle names are the same as mine, hence the thing I too have in common.

Did you see today where Dylan's notes when drafting "Like a Rolling Stone" are going up on auction and expect between 1-2 million!

A nice feature on CBS This Morning today.
