The converters are the same and don't ever put a converter that came from a bad trans on a good trans, all the crap in it from the old bad trans will go right into the good trans. If the trans was from a car or a 2wd then it will have to be torn completely down to get the tail shafts switched. Make sure you flush that shaft out good, it holds more of the old dirty fluid than one would think. If the 460 trans was from a 4 wd be aware there are 2 different tail shaft lengths for the married C6's. One other thing your '78 needs the neu/rev switch on the case. Make sure the 460 C6 case has the 2 bolt holes for the switch if it doesn't already have a switch on it. Not all cases had the bolt holes if they were not needed for the origional vehicle it came from
