Are Hooker 6811 headers compatible with a saddle tank in a 76 SCS

Inquiring minds want to know

 

For the next person who tries this

1. Hooker 6811 stop ~6-10" shy of the OEM saddle tank on this truck. Even with a hard 3-1/2" 90° I feel it is too close to the tanks

 

There were no oem saddle tanks though, according to number dummy. He said they were all aftermarket and there were a few diff kinds. So mileage may vary...

 

I may have my "saddle tank" definition wrong but I have 2 trucks with them and they are both OEM. I am referring to the tank on the drivers side of the truck in front of the axle between the frame and drive shaft.

 

Oh, I've always heard "saddle tank" to mean like a semi tank, mounted outside the frame rails. My thinking was they were like saddle bags, that hang on the outside of the horse.

You don't want a 90 degree bend right out of the header anyway, that won't do you any favors. have you thought about fenderwell exit headers?
