99 V10 Replacement throttle body boot not available?
I have a 99 Ford V10 F53 (motorhome).
It started running rough the last couple of thousand miles. Not I had changed the plugs and coils 1k ago...
Pulled them all again and plugs look great.
I found a big crack in the throttle body boot... But trying to find this part online proved to be quite difficult, so I went to a local Ford dealer.
They can't find it either and want to sell me Ford Base part number 9B659 - around $230 and it doesn't remotely look right.
Complicating matters, this thing has a banks kit on it.. As near as I can tell, that has nothing to do with this piece. It's simply and oval to round boot on the throttle body, IE:
Anyone got a source or hint on finding this sucker?

First, WELCOME to FTE!
If a Ford dealer can't find it, and I doubt it's available aftermarket, you might be stuck finding it at a junkyard. Give car-parts.com a try.
Otherwise, try a different Ford dealer. They have to at least have a part number for it. Whether or not it's obsolete or not, well...

Also maybe look for a replacement aftermarket intake kit and see if any of those pieces look like it would work, then contact that company and see if you can just order that part. My intake kit replaced everything from that boot to the filter. So I am sure you can find something, you'll just have to research aftermarket intake kits.

I thought it might be Banks, but after I pulled it, I noticed a Ford stamp and Ford part number.
Likely I can measure the oval diameter of the intake and find that in silicone with a transition to 3.5" round intake. However, this won't work for the two hoses connected on the left hand side, which would need to be fabricated into the intake... Normally, no problem doing this, it's just that this is an RV application and I'm 1500 miles from my tools... :-)

If you clean up the area around the boot where it cracked and rough it up a little you could most likely fix it temporaily with Marine GOOP. Put some big globs of the GOOP on the outside and let it cure fully and it should hold long enough to get you home. I've used goop on all kinds of plastics, metal, fabrics and etc and it surprised me how well it worked.
AG Marine Adhesive Product Information
Ford probably used the same boot up to 05' before they switched the F53 chassis to the 3V V10.

I have it patched up with silicone rubber, which *should* last the trip home....
