Possible new truck? 92 F250 w/460

Hey y'all

Dont post much in here since you can see i have a 97 PSD.

BUT a friend's company has a 92 F-250 ECLB SRW 2WD with the 460 in it...

It has 86...almost at 87k miles.

Its Brown. and its rust free other than the 'scaling' starting on the driver side rear well.

The tank switch works, but there is a weep hole leak in the rear tank.

Would $2500 be a fair deal?

He linked me the KBB... and i noticed that he put in 167k.. I have seen the dash myself and it has 86800.

What do yall think? Im going to test drive it after work and will post up pics later tonight. Kelley Blue Book

Also, I havent gotten to do much reading up on the 460.

Anyone have information on what to look at closely or some tests to do to help tell the condition of the truck or engine internals?

Common problems?

Seems like a good deal. Iv got a 460 and love it! Once you feel that low end power youll love it and forget it gets 10 mpg lol.

It sounds like a fair deal if the body and interior are in good condition. Usually I see trucks fetching a little bit more, but as it's a 2wd, I'm not very familiar with the going rate. The 460 is a great engine (I'm not biased or anything....), and while it won't pull like your PSD, it's still a very good towing engine. You can expect 10-12 mpg depending on gearing whether you're running city, highway, loaded, or unloaded; it may be thirsty, but it's consistent.

For the rear tank, you could look at doing a bronco fuel tank replacement to gain a little extra range if you get the truck.

2500 sounds high to me for a 2wd truck in the snow belt with rust.

1500 sounds more in line

appreciate all your input. She runs good. When i stopped by to pick up some parts (they supply for our company) and I first saw it I asked about it. They have had it sitting there for a month or so.
She fired right up. Cranked slow... but thats the battery.

The underside is pretty rusty, but fuel lines are new. it has some stainless braided brake lines.

Pretty much the stuff underneath is pretty well cared for even though the frame and junk is rusted up.

Not like i need another truck, but the body is so pretty.. im partial to the OBS.

Could be a fun toy.. easy to work on etc
