Hello, New 06 owner, will be stopping in for help.
I picked up an 06 XL extended cab yesterday, replacing my 66 F100 to work out of. Truck rides much better, but I never put $72.00 in a gas tank before. First thing is to get the back seat out & install platform for my install tools.
The truck seems to have been molested big time, no dome light, spare tire, jack, don't know what else I'll find. There is a hitch in the receiver, no locking pin, hole not seen. What is a good jack to use with this truck should I need to change a tire?
What was Ford thinking with the window cranks. An early upgrade will be power windows & door locks, & getting an overhead light if wiring is there.

John welcome to 04-08. You've been on FTE a while. Glad to see a "lifer" around these parts. If you want OEM parts for that truck then try Tousley Ford. Steve (their parts guy) set them up as a site sponsor. He's great to work with.
Glad to have you around. post a pic when you get a chance.

FTE Ford Dealer Part Dept sponsor: tousleyfordparts.com / Tousley Ford = White Bear Lake MN
Tousley's online parts discount-best on the net: Dealer cost +10%.
John, Tousley has an EZ to use online parts catalog.
XL's are plain jane basic trucks, price leaders (the Standard Cabs of today). Many are sold as fleet vehicles.
Fleet buyers (US Gov't, Construction Co's. & etc) are notorious cheapskates, see no need for P/W's and other creature comforts.
If it has A/C, it might be factory installed, might be dealer installed. The parts do not interchange.

Bill, I am talking the rear seat out so I can put my install tools back there permanently. Someone has had the nuts off the brackets before. (rounding on couple nuts) There is audio wire(ing) coming through the carpet. No jack, lug wrench or spare tire, appears to have had one prior.
The truck has AC don't know which. Don't think it has Ford radio. That is for later.
I need to scuff the bedliner or pull the current to take the 2x4 dump factor. I have to do tailgate down hauling.
MCDavis, I have actually been here past the site reset date in 99, back when it was about 1000 or less users, and only one forum. I remember when the site hit 5000, 50,000 members on on.

You're a funny guy, Bill!!
All kidding aside, the online web interface Ford provides for the dealerships can sometimes be a bit difficult to navigate (unless you have years of experience going back to the days of the ARK, like Bill.... ) until you get the hang of how they categorize the parts.
Back when Ed (PartsGuyEd) was still active on the boards, I'd sometimes call him and ask him how the heck to look up a part on his website. After a few of those calls, it got a lot easier to see how Ford "hid" the parts!

And most a the time, all the application for the part number (but only from circa 1986 and later) come up.
When I bought the oversized tub in my sig pic (1/22/2011), I had a question regarding accessories, so I called Ed, he wasn't there as he had just suffered a stroke.
But, finally did ask him the question when we had lunch together in Seattle in July. Ford no longer provides paper accessory catalogs, only available online.
After we had lunch, we took a horse drawn carriage ride (my treat). When we got in, I said: "Ed, you sit on the opposite side from me, because...I don't want people to think that we're...."
