1991 Fsuperduty
got yet another project that im working on and i was needing a little advice i have this 91 f450 and we all know they all came as 2wd except for the very rare quigley conversions which the utility companies only had. i was wanting to make this thing a 4x4 since its so easily done i am parting out a 1990 f350 crew cab 4x4 so i have the d60 front axle and the transfer case etc... i have been looking all around for the 10 lug hubs for the d60 front and im having no luck ive tried salvage yards ford dealerships and i even called quigley and they were way less than helpful infact they were rather rude... so my question is im contemplating going the 8 lug route and getting rid of the dana 80...so is there any place at all that i could get the 10 lug assembly for the d60? i mean there has to be some place that those companies that had them got parts or should i go the 8 lug route and find a sterling or d60 rear axle? ive found a d60 full floating dually rear in an 81 model f350 with the 34" frame width like mine....any thoughts would be appreciated

I was told the Dodge D80 stuff wouldn't interchange to the D80s in the F-SDs. I'm in the same boat, doing a 4x4 conversion on an F-SD. Quigley had their hubs cast & machined for them, and don't have any old stock, nor do they have any of the adapters to put the driveline park brake on the back of the T-case. There has got to be some of the Quigley trucks in the junk yards, but I haven't been able to find any either.
Several of the rock crawler axle builders make D60 hubs from scratch, but none that I have tried to contact has returned my email...
Oh, and if you're close to Colorado, I have a Sterling 10.25 dually cab & chassis axle in my parts truck...

phy thankyou for your input...do you think it would be better to go the 8 lug route? i dont necessarily NEED the f450 suspension but it would be nice to have....i was going to build this truck to pull my 5th wheel travel trailer and just to tinker with....what part of colorado are you in? im in amarillo texas here about 350 miles from denver...what ratio is your sterling axle?...if i went the 8 lug route it would make my life so much easier

Needs more offset, but they are made to order.
billet wheel adapters
Or swap out to the 10 on 11.25 on all corners and rum big truck rims and tires.

I'm gonna run 10 lugs in the back & 8 on the front until I either find some of the Quigley hubs or get fed up & make some adapters.
Thanks for the link. They list the correct bolt circles, but if you think about it, the 10 lug circle is only .75" larger than the 8 lug circle. That's only 3/8" larger all around. They can't build an adapter like they show without the holes & lugs interfering...
Bulldawg- I'm in the foothills just outside Denver. The axle has 4.10s and an open diff.
I need the weight rating of the D80, or the Sterling would be in my F-SD. If you don't need the weight capacity, the Sterling axle solves the lug issue, and the park brake issue...

The F-Super is a great truck but the 10 lug really kills the options when trying to modify it. If you are not going to push it to it's limits work wise why not go with 8 lug axles?
The Dana 80 is uber expensive to regear and the brakes alone will set you back some serious money. I think a Dana 70 or 10.25 from a C&C will be just fine and make bolting a Dana 60 up front that much easier not to mention you are no longer limited to one rim choice.

I was under the impression that the sterling wasn't until 87 (my 86 had the 70).

I agree w/ Diesel Brad's idea, any cab and chassis ( c&c) will have a rear axle that can support the kind of weight that you need. Look in the bone yards for any F350/450 that has a service body on it ( i.e.- tow truck body, contractors metal body, ambulance, welding rig, dump bed, ect...)
