Wormshoe here and I'm in need of some assistance please.
1989 F150 5.0 5 spd manual 2wd A/C
I'm suffering from a senior moment. I replaced both the starter and the solenoid and my truck doesn't like me anymore. It cranks, but as soon as the key returns to the run position, it stops. I am not hearing the fuel pump come on when I first turn the key to the run position. It's probably something simple. Any ideas ?
Additional information: this was preventative maintenance.
The truck ran just fine before I did the work. The starter and solenoid were 10 years old. I thought that it was time to replace them. The brushes looked short, but other than that, everything looked and worked well...until I worked my magic. :-) Thanks.

 

Did you maybe put the "extra" wires on the wrong side of the solenoid? There are 2-3 wires that are attached to the battery side of the solenoid.

 

Thanks for responding. There's one wire going to the starter. All the other wires are hooked to the battery side of the solenoid.
