The ADV VAN's adventures - 5 month report.

I bought this E350 about 5 months ago... already had the V10, Action Vans lift kit, big wheels & tires. Installed sound deadening/insulation, in-dash navigation system, reverse camera, e-track to tie down motorcycles, class IV hitch to replace the factory class III, 5star programmer.

I still have a small pile of stuff that I'm trying to find time to install... mobile amateur radio, on-board air compressor & 2.5gal tank.

In May I did a dualsport motorcycle ride called the "Sheetiron 300"... hauled 2 motorcycles in the back and a third on the trailer hitch!

I also went camping over memorial day.. until I find a more permanent solution, two appropriately cut pieces of wood supported by milk crates to get it over the wheel wells supports a queen air mattress quite well... and the bench seat that came with the van still fits in there as well.

2 weekends ago I rented a 25' travel trailer so we'd have a place to sleep for an endurace race series I compete in called the 24 Hours of LeMons...

This past 4th of July weekend my girlfriend and I went on a 1300 mile "Tour de NorCal" in the van... camped two out of four nights in the van...explored lots of awesome places:

Watched fireworks out of the back while parked near the beach on the 4th..

Its only 2wd but the limited slip + some momentum gets you most places..

I don't get why people buy pickup trucks .

Oh... and gas mileage...easy to track based on conditions with the Scangauge II I installed.

If I go 55mph.. I actually get 16mpg.

If I go 68mph.. 13.8-14.0mpg.

Towing that travel trailer, ~8k lbs... 55mph... 8.8mpg.

The V10 is thirsty but she's a beast... I specifically looked for a V10 E350 Cargo and I'm completely happy w/ my purchase. Got the van w/ 109k mi for $5500, by the way.

Yea, pretty hard to justify or tolerate any other vehicle once you've owned a van. Nice adventures BTW.
