I've been reading around on the forums for a few days - just learned how to fix my power door lock actuators (well, didn't learn how to fix them, but figured out how to take them out and make my truck lock manually)

I got 3 of my 4 doors working (I have a 1991 F350 Crew Cab 4x4) - the fourth door - driver's side passenger door - I removed the actuator, closed everything back up, closed the door, and the door is stuck closed/locked.

I can pull on the manual lock all I want, but no love, there's no unlocking the door, and I can't pull the door panel off to look inside the door.

Any suggestions?

and... fidgeting with it more, I almost feel like I can lock/unlock the mechanism... but the handles both from the inside and outside doesn't open the door

 

Sounds like you need to get or make a slim jim to manually pull the latch mechanism and open the door. Sticking a couple wedges between the window and the door can help give you some room to see and maneuver the slim jim.

you might be able to put a small wooden wedge carefully between the window and the door on the outside and use a small flashlight to see the acuator and slim jim it up to unlock the door. used to do it when i drove a wrecker but never did a rear truck door.

 

I'm not intimately familiar with the 87+ door panels, what exactly keeps you from opening the panel? I've run into similar situations a couple times and both involved ingenuity, and cursing, to get the panel off with the door closed.
