Sticky injectors

I am have a problem with one of my injectors on my 2004 F350 6.0. It is only happening once in a while. What additive would you recommend that might save me from installing new injectors?

This is the 6.4 forum. Maybe the mods can move it to the 6.0 forum.

In the mean time have you tried something like diesel Kleen? Also do you change the oil in the hpop?

If your not already using synthetic motor oil, try switching to a 5w-40 and see if that helps. You also want the latest flash.

Lately I've been hearing a lot about BG products 244. It's about 40-50 bucks for one quart but a few people I talk to swear by it. I'm getting some in a week or so and will keep you guys posted on the results. I do use opti lube XPD on ever tank and have had no problems, smoother running, and a little better mileage.

This is all new to me. Was one of the millions that lost bussiness and my previous life. Now that I have to work on my truck on my own. I have been reading all the EGR stuff. So please tell me what the Hpop is and does. The Son of a Mechanic who has past on. I have the tool and knowledge just need the info. Thank everyone for your help. Look like its time to tear the top off and start at the EGR cooler.

HPOP fires the injectors. I don't know much about the 6.0 but you have your engine oil....but there is also oil for the injectors. So start there.

The high pressure oil pump (HPOP) supplies up to 4,000psi oil pressure to the hydraulically actuated electronic unit injectors (HEUI) and a small piston inside each injector multiplies the 4,000psi 7 fold. The force is applied to the low pressure fuel that is feeding the injectors to get the 25,000psi when the injector is opening. The low pressure oil pump that lubricates the engine also supplies the high pressure oil pump, and this system which was introduced by Caterpillar goes back about 30 years.
