OUCH$$ Don't Lose Your Keys$$
My trusty workers managed to "misplace" my second truck key. I had it programmed to limit speed and no radio. Went to dealer. $139 for new key plus a trip through the shop to re-program BOTH keys since I didn't already have 2 programmed keys to clone a third one. Total was $235.69, what happened to going to the auto parts store and getting a key made for 50 cents???????????????????????????????? Read a post a while back about using a different style (cheaper) key for emergency purposes. Where can I get one of those? Dealer didn't know what I was talking about and shop foreman said only this style of key fob would start the truck.

The key I replaced did have the the remote start button. I needed the same kind of fob because it is MyKey programmable. That's been a great feature when you have different people driving your truck( Programmable honesty and compliance. Love it!! ) The cheapest equivalent fob I could find online was $91 plus shipping. Then you still have to pay to have someone cut it so $139 at the dealer is not too bad a price I suppose. Someone said there is a cheaper fob that will start the truck. No details, though, on exactly what to buy. If I could find one of those for an emergency spare, that would be great.

I would agree with Brandon on price-par for the course these days. Some where in the manual it says you can use a standard PATS (?) key (no buttons) for starting the truck. I'm unsure if you must have both master keys or if you can use the simple PATS key to learn in a new master key.
I highly recommend that everyone here buy a simple PATS key for less than $20, have it cut, and program it to the truck. These keys will unlock the door and start the truck, and can be used for programming another key.
Having three programmed keys will ensure that if you lose one you will still have two to program a third. I did this with my 2011...trust me it works.

A PATS key is simply a key with a chip in it. Not to be confused with the MyKey system, which is where the owner can specify a certain key to have restricted access to all the truck's features. This is possible because each key has a unique transponder code, so the truck knows one key from the other.
MyKey is an optional feature that I think every truck can use, and PATS is something that's required to start the truck.

This is true.

Also I was wondering has anyone ever added a passenger side door lock?
