So when i was tearing down my 86 351 Windsor, i took off the intake manifold and found this sheet metal thing, It was the gaskets seated on it, looks beat to hell and back, and has a hole in it in one of the creases. Im going to try and figure out how to post my picture. I need to find out if this is suppose t be in hear, and why. Thanks for reading and replying guys much appreciated.
when the last person who messed with the motor took intake off probably wasnt gentle and messed it up that way..... it is mainly to separate heat and oil from the bottom side of your intake....cooler intake means cooler air cooler air means better power and fuel mileage they are like $50 new so if you can just replace it
chances are it has been in there a while lubricate the **** out of it and work it back and forth a few dozen times then it should pull out... but personally before i ever mess with the dizzy i mark the edge of it and the intake so i know where to go back to when i put it back in....but if you got your intake off without taking dizzy out i would opt just to leave dizzy in
its a windage tray and it is also your intake gaskets
NOT a windage tray. Valley pan. Helps keep hot oil off the bottom of the intake.
Windage try is found in the oil pan, bolted usually via the mains or studs on a couple of mains, and is for keeping liquid oil off the crank at higher RPMs.
