Been looking for a roof top carrier for a '99 F350 crew cab. Prefer the basic two rail type. Do not want the kind with a strap that runs inside the cab to hold the rails in place. Everything I have found on the net requires a rain gutter to clamp to or has the inside strap. Will be carrying two 10' kayaks (40 lbs. and 44 lbs.). Anybody have any good solutions? Thanks for your help.
Thanks for the ideas. I had looked at the headache rack option, but didn't want something quite that permanent. I will be towing a fifth wheel so I'm pretty limited as to what will work. I think the rail system will work if I can find one that doesn't require gutters. I will check out the Thule rack system. Again....thanks....
Can you put the kayaks in the 5th wheel? A lot easier and safer too. But I guess you still need a place for them when you get to your destination. Kinda scary strapping them on to the roof.
Not sure why my pictures won't show up. I'll try again. Those are enlargable thumbnails. As you can see we carry our kayaks with a 5th wheel as well. they are 14' Malibu X-factors. It has worked fine so far. I chose this system because it looks factory when the feet are removed and the rails are all that is left. It also allows me to use the same feet and wide bars on our Expedition with the factory rails.

We've stored the kayaks inside the fifth wheel, but it gets old taking them in and out when taking long trips and changing locations every other day. I like your set up 89LX306. Are the rails factory on your truck? If not, how do the rails attach to the cab. Are they permanent? Do you know the model number for the feet and rail system? Thanks...the pictures are great.

These are the tracks and they are permanently mounted. They sit up maybe 1/2"-3/4" above the roof. They look factory and on my lifted truck are not even hardly visible. I didn't want something permanent if it didn't at least look factory, so I tried it on my camper shell first. I liked it so much, I also used it on my roof. There are different lengths and models of the top track. One uses bolts/nuts the other uses flare nuts. My truck roof has flare nuts, camper shell has bolts/nuts. Both have worked fine.
It all works great. I've carried the kayaks just on the camper shell and I've carried them on the roof like in the picture. No issues either way. Hope this helps a little bit.
