Calibration of fuel tank and mte

I'm uncertain from your post if you're trying to find a procedure that would allow you to re-calibrate the MTE or your Ford dealership. There is no owner procedure. The dealer does the reprogramming but you may find they have not done it before. Read on.
I stopped by the local Ford dealer this past Tuesday to see if they have done any MTE re-calibrations for larger fuel tanks - they had not. I gave the service underwriter and service tech the steps below I learned here in the forum. Once the service tech took a quick look at the steps he said "I can do that and I have the latest IDS version".
<O</O
1) Ensure IDS is at least version 72.xx - current version is 72.04 (in May 2011)
2) Click on the toolbox icon at top left of main screen<O</O
3) Select 'Module Programming' - click checkmark icon<O</O
4) Select 'Programmable Parameters'<O</O
5) Select 'Fuel" - click checkmark icon
6) Select 'Front Fuel Tank - (IC) = xx' on bottom of parameter list
7) Select 50 (or whatever size you need) on right side of screen and click checkmark icon. Follow the remaining on-screen instructions.
This sequence was provided in a post by rdenis on 5-9-11 at the following link:

Hope this helps - good luck.<O</O

Titan 65 Gallon
Did you ever get this done? If so, did it work?
I went to the dealer today and they said it would never read more than 40 gal., but I also did not have the above procedure to show them.
I just ordered the 65 Gal. Titan tank today and would like to have the truck calibrated for it when I install.
Has anyone put the 65 Gal. tank in yet?

I didn't get the calibration done but only because I am deleted and running a custom tune. My tuner said if they go in to the computer and recalibrate it they might wipe the tune. Maybe they wouldn't but maybe they would. Since mine is the 50 gal I find the MTE is off by a somewhat proportional amount. Good enough for me. I just fill up at 1/8" tank anyways and don't take long trips.
Good luck!
Good luck!

I sure did. However, I had to go up the dealers chain of command to the president who I know personally. Still got all of the reasons they shouldn't do it but they obliged me. It's easy for the service tech who has the latest software. Your 65 tank will not be a problem. Good luck.

Just looked at the tank yesterday, trying to decide if I want to do it or have the guys I got the tank from do it.
I hope I don't have to go through the same rigamarole as you. I'm in FL now, so hopefully the dealer/s are more accommodating.
Thanks again!

as I recall, the Ford person even posted the text of the IDS version upgrade that showed the service feature to change tank sizes..
