I was wondering what everyone does for the heater cables. The cables for the Left and Right Air vent doors in the kick panels. I think I could buy the choke cable out of LMC. I want the original '57-'60 black plastic *****. Are there replacement cables somewhere or no? Mine were all rusted off or siezed up.
These *****:
Thank You

Do you have the fresh air heater or the recirculating heater?
switch/cable for the recirculating heater is B7C-18578-B
google that and you will find several NOS.
Good luck in your quest.
I will see if I can find the number for the air vent cables tomorrow.

I will check out that part number and see what I can scrounge up. Otherwise I plan on going to a few junkyards in the next couple of days so maybe I will keep a look out for those as well.
Thanks

1957/58 ***** are black, 1959/60 ***** are white. The vent cables (1957/58 is different from 1959/60) have nothing to do with heater cables.
There are two types heater cables, as it depends on which heater the truck has: fresh air or recirculating.
2) B7C-8101890-A .. Right/Left Vent Control Cables / Obsolete
Applications: 1957/58 F100/1100 & C500/1100.
No Ford Dealer or obsolete parts vendor has any. Ditto the 1959/60 cables (B9C-8101890-A).
I've got a '59 with all black *****. I've been looking through some catalogs and noticed that all the '59 ***** were white....so i'm not sure what's up with that. I wonder if I have '58 parts on my dash. Guess I'll have to figure that out. I've also got to get my right vent to work....and I've got to figure out my heater. There's no ducting on it....I'm thinking its an FA version.....more projects for me! lol
I'm just guessing you might have a very early production truck. I've ran into a lot of Fords over the years with the wrong parts. I always attribute it to running production changes. They just used up what they had before they started using the new, or sometimes ran out of the old and started using the new. I had a very late production 72 F-250 (Aug 72) and had to use 73 parts a few times to find the right fit. I know the master cylinder for sure and something with the driveline maybe, it was 25 years ago and I don't remember everything.
I would try PB Blaster on the cables...let them soak in it a good long while before trying to get them to work...the Bowden cables you can spray the outside of the casing too and bend the cable in various directions allowing the PB Blaster to get in there to do its thing.
Most of my cables were frozen as well but soaking them in Blaster loosened things up. With old crusty stuff, patience is key! I keep reminding my wife of that with myself!
Are you needing replacment vent cables or did you get yours to work?

Well I still need these cables yet. My original ones were rotted completely off that I can't really reuse them. The vent door was rusted so bad it basically welded itself to the cab!! I went to a car/swap meet last Sat. (4 hours away) and met a guy that lives only 30-45 min away from me that has 1 wheel that I need and these cables that he is willing to sell. I have to get a hold of him yet and drive over there to check them out. Other wise I know a junkyard a few hours away that I could possibly go to to get these if necessary.
I was wondering more or less if there were reproductions of these somewhere. Or if one could buy a new universal cable and swap out the ****.

I think the cables you're looking for are on this link towards the bottom. I haven't bought anything from this company (John's F-Fun Hundreds in Pomona, Ca.) and haven't read anything about them....is anyone familiar with them? Here's the link:
Ive never dealt with them myself..I do remember trying to go to their store in the middle of the afternoon and the door being locked... but since theres no pics or details about the part...plus since its the same price as a universal cable I would be scratching my head wondering...
Also, given the RH cable assy is a lot longer then the left I would think it would be a different price as well.
