2012 f150 fx4 remote start add

I want to add the remote start to my 2012 fx4. Has anyone done this? Where is the cheapest place to buy the kit with the key or keys? I cant see this being a difficult install to the truck. What are your thoughts on getting this done? Is it plug and play?

I was hoping someone else had done this to give any tips or advice on the install. I cant imagine it would be all that hard to do. I have seen the same link that you shared thank you. I guess i need to figure out if i have the hood switch as well. Im pretty sure i do as i have power locks.

That kit claims true plug and play, which is consistent with the way Ford has engineered their electronics for pretty much forever. Only one way to find out...

I believe when you put the factory parts in the truck they are covered under warranty though. It states it will start at 300 feet. We will see im shopping for the best price on one.

I have compustar remote start/alarm, 1 mile range and I believe it does that range, it has never not started when I have wanted it to, but I needed that range though to be able to start my truck from work. Put it in my f150 and loved it so much I had the dealer put one in my f250 before I picked it up. What prices are you finding for the factory kit?

Oh thats not too bad then, the system I have without the alarm is about the same $, but won't be plug and play, obviously lol. For me I just need the extra distance.

my dealer had their aftermarket guy put in an avital that was 2-way and had awesome range. ($500). Unfortunately I did not like the big FOB and he could never find out which wire to disarm the factory alarm (after a month) so I had him put a less expensive Avital and it is programmed to my key (no extra FOB). But the range absolutely sucks and I miss having the other one. Unfortunately me and their guy are not on speaking terms any longer since he tried to keep my $200. This is on a 2011 Expy.
