Door latch cable

'01 F250, extended cab. My rear passenger door wouldn't open. The upper cable broke. Ford now sells assemblies only, cables, handle and upper & lower latches for around $200. Anywhere I can just buy the cable? Besides the cost it's a PIA to remove everything as the existing handle is riveted in. Thanks.

I have had the same problem on both of my extended cab doors. I do not know how your cables are broken, but mine had just broken the plastic clips and would not fully actuate the latch. I fixed this with some zip ties but those only lasted about a year. I ended up buying the full latch assemblies and only put in the cables and latches from the new assemblies. I left the rivited handle in the truck to keep from having to drill out the rivits. It only took about half an hour for each side. Job was easy but kind of costly. Hope this helps.

I purchased them from a place in South Florida called Mako Hose and Rubber. I had to send them the cable, but it was only $35 for each cable. They shipped out the same day they got it. New cable has brass mounts instead of the junk plastic ones from Ford.

I Just recently experienced this only my door would not shut, I'm running into a similar issue as i only need the latch. Would a cable out of an OBS potentially work? I would measure it and search based off the length, maybe you can dig up a non OEM one, it will at least broaden your search so you can get more hits than misses.
