Cruise control

My cruise control quite working. My truck was in the shop having different gears installed and the drive shaft was removed to do the job. Any one have any ideas on how the cruise works or where it senses your speed?

Thanks

Red face Ditto

My cruise no longer works, either.

From the research so far it seems it may be related to the Brake Pressure Switch and/or the harness attaching this switch.

Can't get any pictures or additional information just yet.

I think there is a speed sensor on the rear axle but I think it's only for the brake ABS sysrtem. I guess it's possible that the speed control also uses it. I'm not much of a beliver in coincidence. If something worked when it went in for a repair, and didn't when it came out, somebody mucked it up. Try a panic stop and see if the ABS pulses. If not the sensor may be dis connected or miswired or something. Of course getting a tech to admit he mucked something up is another story. Good luck.

Same for me. It is very common for this switch to fail.
Same switch failed on my
2000 F-350
2002 F-250
And also on my
2008 F250
Very likely this switch has failed on your truck as well.
I bought an extra one to keep in the glove box for when mine fails again.
Faulty part if you ask me but Ford just claims it wears out.

Red face I dunno

I never did a thing. I tried it over & over since someone else mentioned intermittent operation of theirs.

So after a few weeks, it now works.

I'm glad it started working for you but that's how mine did too.
It started working for me again for a while and then later on it start not work again..Back and forth..Working and not working but finally not working.
I am still pretty dead set sure that eventually you will need that brake switch that is located under the master cylinder.
Just saying.!

Same here. Do not wait to pop the bubble, but mine worked off and on till the switch died.

Has anyone replaced the switch? My cruise control is working erratically. It works at times and does not work at other times.

Not trying to be ugly or be a smartass.... But didn't you just read the thread you posted in?

Your answer is yes.....there are those of us that have replaced the switch and that fixes your problem....I personally listed 3 year models in my post that I replaced the switch to fix the cruise control.
