New exhaust

So I finally went and put the exhaust I had been wanting on my truck. Pretty simple set-up. I had the factory muffler cut off and a flowmaster 40 series on it previously. I liked the sound under load and at cold start but normal driving I could not tell a difference from a factory muffler. So I had the flowmaster removed. I still have 4 cats so it's not crazy but it is loud. The only time I have cackle is on intial start-up not even at WOT which was a pleasant surprise. I just like the look of a single exhaust but still want some sound. And to all the guys that have been here a while, hello! I have been gone awhile as I needed a little break from starting and also being drawn in to arguments. Promise to be on my best behavior this time

good deal on the exhaust. I have a flowmaster muffler on mine too, but one of the baffles inside has come loose and I am going to have to do something about it. Could post up a sound clip of what yours sounds like with no muffler. I may go that route if it sounds good. It would be cheaper to remove it than it would to change it out. I think muffler from name brand companies all cost a little over a 100 bucks.

I don't know how to post up video clips but did find one on youtube of a guy who put 3" pipe from the cats back with no muffler. It is slightly louder than mine. I can't remember if his was an 04-05 with the 4 cats or not. The 3" pipe may have been enough to make it louder if it was.

F150 Exhaust Video - YouTube
Here it is. He cut the rear convertors off as well. More cackle than mine and slightly louder. The only thing you might have trouble with is if you have to deal with state inspections. Other than that I have heard trucks with dual exhaust, cats and mufflers that were as loud as mine now. Hell I have owned some of them lol

Glad to see you posting again! We all need a break from stuff at times.

Grab your camera, record some vids, register at Photobucket.com and upload your vids to their website, then you can post them here!

Yep after I posted in this thread I found that video on youtube. My truck has no cats and we have no inspections in SC. That may be too loud for my liking, but I might get the muffler shop to cut out the muffler and crank it for me so I can hear what it sounds like before I make a decision. I don't want to redneck my lariat up too much, if ya know what I mean.

With no cats and no muffler it would be way too loud for me personally. Are you looking to make it louder than it is now with the no cats and flowmaster or just a different tone?

No I am happy with the way it sounds now. I am only replacing my muffler because one of the baffles came loose on the inside and I am trying to figure out what would be the best way to fix it. I will definitely be putting a muffler back on it since I have seen that video, but I may try a magnaflow this time around just to hear what it sounds like. If nothing was wrong with my current muffler (makes a god awful rattling sound right now) then I wouldn't change anything about my current setup.
