gauges?

hi guys, on my 05 e450 v10, when I start it the gauges all go "down", or all move/ point down, then after the motor is running about 2 seconds, the guages go back to the normal position. they are in a normal position with key "on" before starting & only move down after the motor starts. it seems very strange. never saw that on any other vehicle....any ideas?.......J

Most vehicles shut off power to the gauges on start. Everything is usually shut off for the start to give everything to the starter and ignition. Usually they come up as soon as you let off the key.

If they are staying off longer than that, either that van has a delay circuit, or you ignition switch is gummy and coming back slow? Never seen one with a delay, but I've seen the gummed up switch.

thanks 2000,...I know what you mean,my others do that, but this is different, it's after the engine starts, all the guages move down. (I'm always looking mostly at the volt/amp cause it kinda scares me to show such a neg. reading....almost like a dead short!...(about half a second-then all guages show normal readings)......this is on the'05 e450 v10, my '06 e150 5.4 does not do the same...guess I'll wait to see if it causes any trouble....no trouble yet, but it just "looks" wrong, so I thought I'd ask .............J....
