Dave, just read the whole thing. Love the truck. Keep it up.

Paul, make a build thread. We'd love to see what you did too. Is your frame painted or powdercoated?

A build page will be made very soon. Frame was media blasted. Then topped with epoxy primer and single stage urethane.

Dave was the reason that 78_f800crewcab4x4 and I attempted the CV Swap. His build was flawless. Thank you again Dave.

Love it. That turned out great. That's actually exactly what I am going to do and I'm surprised at how well it came out! I'm assuming you used a proper paint gun to do that?

Still works as a truck! First time dragging the trailer around with it after the swap.

Just remove the clutch arm from the 92 pedal assembly and bolt it to the older pedal assembly. Add some welds to hold everything together and you are good to go. Just line everything up so the clutch master cylinder travels in as straight a line as possible when you press the pedal and it gets full travel otherwise the clutch won't disengage.

Is that an 84 Regal frame on the trailer?

Have you decided the front sits low enough for you and you will not be dropping it any lower? I am wanting to do the CV front swap with explorer (rear discs) 8.8 rear swap and still be able to tow a gran torino on a trailer, which is why I am happy to see yours towing.

It is an 84' regal frame! That is my other project.

Yes the front sits just about right for me. Top of the tire is right at the lip of the fender now after a few thousand mile of driving. Tows just fine as well!

Glad to hear that.
My 71 still currently has the original suspension (including 1 finger power steering) and I have ran her close to triple digits on the interstate often before parking her. She has always ran very well, tight, and controlled. After reading several posts on here about the planned CV front swap, I am even more excited to do this operation. I am not the greatest of welders, but four miles away is a brother-in-law who is a professional coal miner welder who is more than happy to help me on this. I am stoked!

BTW, I have a close buddy (even though he is anti-Ford) who is a major GM guy. While I can't understand haters, we have been close friends for over 10 years. He has built several old chevy and GMC trucks and usually uses Fatman front ends. We were talking the other day about my bump project and I was talking about the CV swap. He asked about price and when I told him anywhere from $150-$500, I thought he was going to have a coronary. He pays almost two grand for his front ends! While I wont criticize Fatman products because they are awesome, but I was trying to get across to him that there are other options out there.
