Transitioning, lol

Ok I am jumping from the fat fendered world to the 57 to 60 3rd gen F100. I have found a big window SWB 1957 that is in the project stage. A couple questions .........
What is there to look for and to look out for, the truck is in pieces so it should be transparent as far as rust etc.......
I am going to look on Mondy so I will keep you all posted.

Thanks Ryan

Get ready for some big 4 year gaps in the parts catalogues. One of the many reasons our trucks are known as 'orphans'. They definately grow on you! Don't forget to bring your camera so we can see the fridge kit.

A Fridge has fat fenders too! It is just that the rest of the truck is so fat you don't even notice the fenders!

I take it is called a fridge cuz its a square box??? I dont want to offend anyone but I really only like the 57 with the single light I think the other years are UGLY, but then again I think almost everybody thinks the 57 to 60 are ugly.

And how bad is the parts department? I just finished a 1964 comet wagon that was a one year only but a lot of Mustang parts can be used on the cars.

Then again the 57 I want to build is gonna be more of a hot rod and not a period correct so it shouldnt be too bad.

I looked at a 57 today I may buy for parts, to assist with the project truck I am going to look at on MOnday..... If i get that one I will get pics and maybe part it out as I go along.

Oh yeah the wagon is for sale if anyone is interested,

Ryan

Funny, but I always liked the dual headlight versions best. At least I think they are a little bit less ugly.........No offense to you 57 guys of course.

went to look

Well, we went to look at the truck today, talk about a project....a Lot of custom stuff as far as the chassis, which is what I wanted. The bed floor has been raised four inches, the rear end is bagged with a full no limit suspension, the front is all bagged with a no limit suspension. The cab is a small window cab that is very straight , and a big window has been welded in, it is basically a truck completely disassembled with sweet *** running gear which is what I want but he wants 6k with a 5.3 chevy motor and trans which I dont care for. I am thinking about offering 3500 with no motor, but he doesnt want to separate?

I didnt take any pics as I was too busy jockying myself to make an offer...lol I will keep you posted.

Some other options include with the truck were an extra hood extra doors, ss wind wings, no limit fuel cell, etc etc

Stay tuned...

Ryan

Welcome to '57

I have to agree '57 is the way to go. If you have to you can mix and match various years to build your '57.

Not sure if you are interested in a flatbed or not, but Craigslist Phoenix AZ has one listed as of May 2012.

You may also want to contact Home » DVAP to see if they have any in either of their yards (Phoenix & Casa Grande AZ). They use to have a few. Riff Riffle 775-751-3751 in Pahrump, NV had a few or access to some.

Take two they are small, lol

Well I bought two....to make one. I bought the project truck with all the fab work started...............and I bought a complete truck, non running to help with parts assembly etc. I will take some pics when I go to pick them up, and I will start a build thread, I anticipate three years or a little less for this one. Stay tuned

Ryan
