1976 F 250 4x4 alive after 20 years

I got this truck from a guy I used to work for and he is still a good friend of mine, I've been after him to sell it to me for about 12 years. he asks me about a month ago if I still want it or its going for scrap,I say yes and he gives it to me! All I have to do is keep it and not sell it-no problem. His dad bought it new in 1976 and after it was parked in 1993 in a pasture and didn't move until I loaded it on my trailer. I changed the oil, drained the old fuel out,put in a battery and she fired up after only about 1 min of cranking! Idles good and fires up with just a touch of the key. It's a 360 4 speed, divorced transfer case, custom, with no options. It's all original. It's going to be my farm truck for a while and when I get the urge it's getting a full resto for my boy(he's 6 now). I've always loved these old Fords and now I have one and it didn't cost me anything!

Welcome to FTE!!!!! Sounds to me like you got a good deal. Now of course we need pictures to prove this exists... JK Anyway we love truck pics so post plenty. You might have to creat a photobucket.

Welcome again and people on here have an answer for everything!

I'm amazed it fired up and ran smooth after sitting for almost 20 years. Usually the gas in the carb gums up and gets so nasty you have to disassemble it and soak it in carb cleaner!

Plus, it's awesome it runs, and that you got it for free.

I wish someone would give me a truck on the condition that I don't sell it...jeez!

Plus, since it's been family owned since new, you probably won't find a ton of stupid "Fixes" that have been done by someone who should've been flipping burgers instead of working on a truck...

Congrats on the awesome score! Let's see some pictures!!

Yeah I was amazed too, I thought for sure it would need a carb rebuild. And yes it doesn't appear to have too many "fixes",just a gun rack in the window and a neat 110volt plug in/converter box under the hood,i'll get pics of it later too.

I think you need to host the pictures on a separate site (I use Google+, a lot of people use photobucket/etc) and then link them.

The truck isn't as rusty as I thought it would be. It looks very driveable in the condition it's in. You got a sweet deal on it too. Can't beat FREE.

Ya its not horrible. Floor is bad and cab mounts but the box is good. Just fenders and box sides.

Set up an account through photobucket or some other site like that, and then you can post pictures.

So he asks you if you want it or he's gonna scap it, then tells you he'll give it to you only if you never sell it?

What if you wanna scrap it? Is that ok?

Ha,yeah I thought about that too, didn't make much sense to me that he was gonna scrap it anyway but he thought i was just going to get it running and sell it,so i just assured him it was in good hands. She's a heck of a work truck though! I'm itchin' to tear into it!
