85 f150 on bronco frame?

I have an 85 f150 short bed and i hate my 8.8 and ttb front axle and i dont have the means to fabricate a straight axle under it so i want to put my body on a 78/79 bronco frame.
Has anyone done this?
How much of a difference is there in the frames?
Any draw backs to this?

An 80 to 96 frame is the same, but 73 to 79 frames are wider, if I remember correctly.

Even then, the bronco frame is shorter than an F150 frame I think. Even with a regular cab and a short bed, I don't think you could get it to fit.

If you hate the TTB and the 8.8 (why?) just do a solid axle swap and go to 3/4 or 1 tons. I'm sure you could find someone to help you do the fabrication.

I have to ask the same question...why?

I've read the debates on both, TTB and 8.8 vs. solid axle and 9", and I have yet to be convinced as to why one is "better" than the other. There are solid benefits to either setup, and I wonder if it just falls to personal preference.

The TTB gives a much nicer ride on the street and has proven itself offroad if done right.I find the ride on my solid axle to be much more rough than even my ttb f250.A body swap that mixes different generations is a huge undertaking.I've been thinking of swapping '68-'72 body onto my '88 F250 4x4 chassis. Not sure how difficult it would be,so I'll find one and do some measuring.Unless you consider yourself a good fabricator and problem solver, you might be better off doing a SAS and swap out the 8.8 to a 9.That is easier than doing a whole body swap.I know there is plenty of info regarding SAS and there might even be some info on the body swap. After a body swap the vehicle would need to have a state inspection to be legal so it better be done right.

thank you for your information. i figured it would be easier to jsut swap bodies than fabrication a sas swap. I want to stick with my 5 lugs so i dont need new wheels and tires. i hate the ttb because it looks bad, ive never had any luck with them, more of a pain to lift imo, and i find the straight axle better. I rather the 9 in because of the c clip situation and the housing is stronger but thank you very much
