Window motor binding up.

Window motor binding up.
The passanger side window motor in my 92 F-150 stops working
It's new, the old one quit working so I replaced it with this one from O'reillys.
It works for a short while then quits. I pull it out of the door and it works fine. It is hard to get out of the door, so I'm assuming it's binding up somehow.
When I first installed it. it went up kinda slow, going down was a bit faster but still not as fast as the old one was.
It then stopped, so I took it out of the door the first time, that's when I found it worked. After I put it i nthe door again, it worked faster both up and down. It then stopped again after only being used a couple of times.
The motor was kinda hot when I took it out again today, and again it worked once it was out.
So what do I need to do to keep it working? Shim it out with washers or ?

You're basically saying "I have a problem with my window, how do I fix it?". Is it the glass or the motor that's binding up? Is anything rusty, broken, bent, etc..? Have you compared it to the other side mechanically? You have to do basic diagnostics and troubleshooting to give us something to work with first.

I'm assuming the gears (that's the motor gears and the gear on the regulator) are binding up. It is at least to me too tight why else would the motor work when it's not bolted in it's place in the door?
I can pull up and push down the window by hand without any effort when the motor is not installed, so I don't think it's anything to do with the mechanics of the window and regulator by themselves.

I had the same problem, but not with a ford. What I found was that the pivot point in the mechanical linkage had galled out due to no lube. Since it is a riveted joint the best way I found to fix it was to take the whole assembly out and lightly bang on the pivot against an anvil to try and flatten the galling (burrs) then lube it with molly grease. When you have it in your hands you can feel the binding. Worked for over 2 years so far.
