Vac. on carb

1974 F-100 360 stroked to 390.
When I get into it a little I hear a sucking sound. It sounds like it's coming from the carb.I let off the gas and it quits.I've checked all over the carb. and can't find any Vac. leaks/openings where this air is coming from. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.-Ken

Like northerndave said, that sucking sound is the huge "vacuum leak" just under your air filter housing.

Agreed; if it were a vacuum leak, you'd hear it at idle, at which point vacuum is strongest.

I just put gas in my bike this morning, I don't recall exactly but it was $3.50-ish

But it was only 4.5 gallons to fill it.

We had one. Back a couple hundred years ago. Captured and burned Washington.
If we'd stayed your gas would be 10 bucks a gallon now.
