haven't used second tank long time.

Hi. I have a 1990. 3/4 ton ford pickup 460 gas engine dual tanks. the question I have for you is: I have not used the second tank in at least 2 or 3 years. I have not been driving the truck that much so 1 tank has been fine. itrip is come up and I really need to use both tanks do you think it is okay for me to put gas in the second tank? I doubt there is anything in it at this time I'm sure if there was gas long time ago it has dissipated.
Thank you in advance.

Thats not usually a good choice unless you drop the tank and clean it out. Even when I went years without hardly driving my truck I alternated between tanks. If you do try to use it I would try to drain whatever is in it maybe disconnect the fuel line at the filter and turn the key on. Then fill it with some super and add a bottle of good fuel additive like valvoline complete fuel system cleaner or equivalent.

Time just flew by and I realize that I. didnt. use the second tank.. I'm not a mechanic if I have to do anything With it it will cost me money But I need that second tank. I only get about 115 miles per tank And that's okay will come in handy.

Your problems are if it sat empty then there is the potential for condensation in the tank and it could accumulate moisture and rust inside the tank. If you left gas in it that long the gas has gone bad and needs to be drained before using the tank. Dropping the tank isn't that difficult and theres probably a write up in here somewhere telling you how to do it. The other option to dropping the tank is to take off the bed which requires assistance from friends.

Whatever you decide I would at the bare minimum talk to a mechanic if your unsure on how to proceed and see what he would charge to drop the tank or clean it out in some fashion.
