Welcome TB!
There are a couple people on here that have done this swap. Make a bunch of small posts until the search option becomes available to you (somewhere between 10-20 posts, I don't know the exact number currently) or use google with the location to search parameter "Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forum" to find a wealth of info. Meanwhile you can start reading here: 53-79 F-Series Steering & Suspension .: Articles

I'd strip it to a bare shell. At least I'd keep the ECU and all the sensors, all the driveline and suspension parts, wheels, the pedals, master cylinder(s) seats, fuel tank and pump, switches, lights, steering column and wheel, nuts, bolts, etc etc.
If you don't use the parts, it's likely someone else can.

those TBirds have an odd ball lug pattern, so regular Ford wheels wont fit. They Share the bolt pattern with Taurus/Sable/Windstar platform. You will certianly want to keeps as much of the factory wiring harness as possible. A shop manual will help you figure out what wires/plugs/relays you can trim out to minimize the bulk of the harness. The IRS would be awesome adapted into either the truck or the Stang... I have been considering an IRS swap into the 65 Mustang that was my Dad's.

Thanks Mavman514. I've done a 95 460FI in my 80 F250 4x and a couple others by making a stand alone harness from the factory harness. A friend got diagrams from Alldata for me. I don't want to junk anything that's usable to me or someone, but I don't have unlimited storage space. This forum has been quite helpfull. I'd like to find any books or articles with junkyard swap info for disc brakes or rack and pinion on 56 truck or 66 must.

Check out this guy for a simple way and instructions on how to do the IRS swap. He also discusses ways to change the bolt pattern to the more popular 4.5. As of a few weeks ago he was debating of whether to keep production going as sales are slow but I don't know his decision.
Anyway let him know you heard of it on this site if you decide on it.
